The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program (CFSP) is a fully funded initiative by the Government of Canada, aimed at enhancing institutional capacities in developing countries of La Francophonie through advanced training of professionals.

  • ObjectiveTo strengthen institutional capacities by training nationals from developing Francophone countries.

  • ManagementAdministered by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). 

🌍 Eligibility Criteria

  • NationalityCitizens of eligible Francophone developing countries, including Nigeria.

  • Language ProficiencyFluency in French is mandatory.

  • EmploymentCandidates must be employed in institutions where the acquired training will benefit institutional development upon return.

  • Academic LevelApplicants should be seeking Master's or Doctoral degrees, technical and vocational training, or short-term internships.

  • ExclusionsClinical training in pharmacy, medicine, and dentistry is not covered.

💰 Scholarship Benefits

  • Financial CoverageAn average annual amount of CAD $35,000.

  • DurationUp to 4 years, depending on the program.

  • Coverage Includes:

    • Tuition fees

    • Living expenses

    • Travel costs

    • Research funding for PhD candidates 

📝 Application Process

  1. Internal SelectionEligible institutions in recipient countries conduct internal recruitment to identify qualified candidates.

  2. Quota SystemEach country has a specific quota, allowing them to set training priorities and required levels.

  3. DocumentationApplicants must prepare and submit:

    • Updated Curriculum Vitae

    • Cover Letter

    • Certified copies of diplomas and transcripts

    • Reference letters

    • Certified copies of passport and birth certificate

    • Institutional and Individual Needs Questionnaires (for eligible applicants)

  4. SubmissionApplications are submitted to designated bodies within the applicant's country.
